Cadiz, Tarragona and Rome...

I just came from Cadiz and enjoyed visiting some places that have been related to the History.

One of these places has to do with the Roman Empire…

The Roman theatre of Cadiz is located in the “barrio del Pópulo” and was found in 1980. It was built some years before Christ – probably 60-70 years before…

It is one of the biggest Roman theatres of the world and the first one that was built in the Iberian Peninsula.

Other very nice Roman theatre is in Tarragona - there are some texts about Tarragona in my blog.

The Roman Circus of Tarragona is one of the most interesting archaeological sites and one of the most well preserved theatres of the old Roman Empire according to some studies.

It was built at the end of the 1st century and had a capacity for 25.000 spectators.
It is a great place to go and see...

Of course I am supposed to finish this article talking about the most important and well know Roman theatre: The Colosseum or Roman Coliseum!

It is in the center of the city of Rome, Italy. And also we should remember that it is the largest theatre built in the Roman Empire.

According to some studies its construction started between 70 and 72 AD and was completed in 80 AD under Titus. It had a capacity for 50.000 spectators and it was used for gladiatorial games, executions, battles, etc.

I hope you have been able to enjoy reading about one of my favorites topics: History!
